Be careful out there! Police are changing their tactics. So if you're going to drink and drive this weekend, save it for the track! Wait, no. That's a terrible idea.
Say hello to a new strategy called "no refusal":
Well, that sounds warm and comforting.
So far police in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! are planning "no refusal" DUI checkpoints. Judicial officials will be available this weekend to approve warrants, even over the phone , that allows cops to take blood from citizens by force.
"Yup, take their blood... yup, take their blood..."
Normally when a driver is suspected of DUI, they can either submit to a breathalizer or refuse (which usually results in automatic suspension of the driver's license). And while police have forced blood-draws before, it was never like this.
Thankfully , Tennessee state law requires that the locations of the checkpoints be made available to the public in advance — probably because they know that constitutionally, this is kind of shady. Questionable, at the least.
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has made the checkpoint locations available !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
So if you live in any of these states, save it for the track watch out!
"The state thanks you."

It's, like, a piece of our spirit being put out into the world for the benefit of society.

I normally don't get worked up about this crap, but if you try and stick me and take my blood without any real due process you can kiss my ass and I'll see you in court, the US Supreme Court if need be.

So, just to clarify, they're not drawing blood from everyone who goes through the checkpoint. I read the articles you linked, which explain these check points are called "no refusal," because if someone refuses a breathalyzer, the cops will then phone a judge to get a search warrant to draw blood.
Which, yeah, that's still some totalitarian bullshit, but a little different than what it seemed like from reading your post. Not sure if you intended that, but that's how I read your post.

That would be some serious bullshit if they did that. But I see what you mean, so I added some clarification.

I hope they forcea blood drawon someone who wasn't drinking who has deep pockets and a shark of a lawyer. If the Supreme Court were to rule in favor of the cops I think it would be time to start looking for jobs abroad, we're already close enough to not being a free country.
